Fly Fishing
Park City On The Fly
Park City, UT
Ph 435-649-6707

Park City On The Fly is a small, locally owned Fly Fishing Guide Service, owned by Ken and Jen Mihal. We have been fishing these amazing Utah Rivers since the 90′s. Fly fishing is our passion! We spend every free moment on one river or another, exploring more undiscovered territory, chasing more, even bigger fish…or trying to get that one that got away! With every one of our vacations being a fly-fishing vacation, we know the importance of an experienced guide; we know what is important in a guide, and we are focused on giving that to you! We live in Park City Utah and have been guiding these local waters since 2001. We have spent thousands upon thousands of days on these rivers and streams fishing ourselves! Patience, attentiveness and passion are a constant in our fishing guides. We are not outfitters that are all about clocks and maximizing our numbers. We absolutely love what we do and it shows!

All of our hunts take place on private property in the North West corner of Utah in Box Elder County near Grouse Creek City. The property consists of over 23000+ acres of mule deer paradise. Rolling hills, Sage Brush flats, Alfalfa Fields, deep pine tree covered draws and peaks reaching above 8,500 feet describe the breath taking scenery of our property. The property will accommodate any type of hunter and hunting party. If you like to hike, we can hike. If you want to drive in trucks or an A.T.V. let's do it. If you want to sit in a blind, we can do that also. The property is set up perfectly for those of you who want to bring your son, daughter or significant other to enjoy your hunt with you.

We offer professionally guided Utah fly fishing trips 12 months a year, on rivers, streams, and ponds near Park City. Whether you’re here playing golf in the summer, playing on the ski slopes during the winter or attending the Sundance film festival we have a great alternative for you. Come spend a day you won’t forget fly fishing with us. This Blue Ribbon River provides excellent fishing year-round. It originates in the high Uinta Mountains, and is divided into three distinct sections; the upper, the middle, and the lower. The three sections are separated by two reservoirs, the Jordanelle and Deer Creek. Because of these reservoirs the middle and lower sections of the river are classic tail-water fisheries, where the upper is more of a free stone river. These tail-water sections are managed for trophy trout. The water is almost always clear and fishable, and the fish numbers are truly impressive. There are many access points along the 25 miles of river, so if you have any limitations this is a great choice. With its close proximity to Park City this river is ideal for half or full day trips. Here is a website tracking the daily water flows on Provo river which we find interesting.

Boulder Mountain is regarded by many anglers as the last great place for fly fishing adventure in the western United States. If you are looking for a guided fly fishing trip to southern Utah, this is a place that most fly fishers can only dream about, with outstanding cutthroat trout and brook trout. Guided fly fishing on Boulder Mountain is what we have been doing for more than two decades. No other local outfitter knows the lakes and streams of Boulder Mountain as well. The first opportunity for a guided fly fishing trip on Boulder Mountain is in April. Much of the Boulder Mountain is still covered with snow and the high elevation remote lakes are still iced over in early April. But near the town of Boulder at a much lower elevation than the Boulder Mountain the ice is gone by the first week of March. The opportunity to cast to trophy sized wild rainbow and brown trout on private waters is a welcome change from winter. There are also very fine small streams , some with private access that are definitely fishable as early as the first week of March.

The elk hunting in 2004 had a 80% success rate our best year yet. We have great deer hunting I consider our elk hunting average. Because of this we charge a trophy fee for elk, during the regular elk rifle season. You must purchase and book your deer hunt during the elk rifle season in order to hunt elk. Tired of seeing more orange than horns?

Any unit you hunt, you are almost assured the opportunity of a shot at a 6x6 bull.  Some of the units in this state are producing some bulls scoring over 400 BC points.  On the average you should take home a bull that will score at least 315 or 320. These hunts are definitely worth the $5.00 to apply. Somebody's going to draw, why not you? Deadline for the draw is the end of January.  .

Come and enjoy the unique wild-life, geology and history that are distinctive to this stretch of the Colorado River. This class II stretch begins near the town of Loma, Colorado, just outside of the Utah border. Ruby and Horsethief Canyon are home to numerous birds of prey including Golden and Bald Eagles, Red Tail Hawks and Peregrine Falcons. At the Black Rocks Campsite, you will see the geological phenomenon known as a schist, a highly polished and extremely uncommon black rock dating back 1.25 billion years.

Once full to its rocky rims with high country run off, the Colorado River rips through southeastern Utah as it heads toward Lake Powell. Rafting on the Colorado River is at its most exciting once you reach the start of Cataract Canyon's twenty-six rapids. The largest rapids in the canyon are found at the end.
