Blacktail Deer*
Red Bank Outfitters
Box 8295
Red Bluff, CA 96080
World-class hunting, target shooting and fishing experiences await at Red Bank Outfitters, northern California's premiere outdoors destination. Our famous southern style bobwhite quail hunts are unsurpassed, while we offer other challenging hunts chukar, pheasant, Hungarian partridge, wild turkey, black-tailed deer and wild hogs. We now offer over 10,000 acres of prime habitat for Trophy blacktail. We have a healthy buck to doe ratio resident herd that we manage very closely through habitat work and the number of animals taken per year. Wild hogs — actually a combination of feral hogs and Russian boar — have flourished in this country since the coming of the early settlers. They are fast-becoming California’s No. 1 big game animal and tracking these potentially dangerous critters is a real rush. Wild hogs are extremely challenging to hunt because they possess a keen sense of smell and hearing in combination with speed and brute force. Wild turkeys are the shining “success story” for wildlife management in California. There are two season to hunt these brilliantly colored, extremely cunning birds. At Red Bank we offer a sustainable and ever-increasing flock of turkeys. In the fall hunters may take either a tom or a hen. In the spring only gobblers with visible beards may be taken.

While on a 1977 Tatshenshini River trip in Alaska, O.A.R.S. Founder and President George Wendt, witnessed a vastness even greater in magnitude than the Grand Canyon. It was a profound experience for him to travel approximately 150 miles through territory utterly untouched by human development. The Tat was a very different type of river than he had previously experienced, taking him through lush glacier-carved, U-shaped valleys teeming with wildlife. Walking on a glacier certainly offered a dramatic change from the hot desert southwest where he had spent much of his time. He recognized immediately it was a place he needed to share with others

Klamath River Rafting is suited to whole family participation, with warm Summer river flows, great swimming, and beginner to intermediate level rapids (class II and III). The white water rafting and kayaking adventure at Marble Mountain Guest Ranch is scheduled in the warmer afternoon hours and covers a new and exciting stretch of the river each day. Our afternoon departures place us on the river after the first push of rafting traffic and gives us an almost exclusive use of the canyon. This strategy also enables our signature "raft and ride" program of scheduling horse rides, and shooting in cooler mornings with rafting trips in the warmer afternoons. Since we are central to each of these rafting locations, shuttles take no more than 35 minutes to the launch site on any day.

California Hunting Outfitters and Guides Elk Facts

Tule elk are endemic to California and the most specialized elk in North America, given that they live in open country under semi-desert conditions, whereas the species as a whole typically occupies temperate climates and utilizes heavy cover at least seasonally (McCullough, 1969). In its historic range, the tule elk once occupied much of the central state. Their range spanned east of the foothills of the Sierra Nevada west to the coast line and north from the headwaters of the Sacramento River south to the Tehachapi Mountains. The variation in climate and topography illustrate the great adaptability of the tule elk.
